Hunminjeongeum Eonhaebon — the king's preface, in Korean

The classical-Chinese preface, translated into Korean using the new script itself

Shortly after the Haeryebon, the preface and phonetic rules were rendered into Korean and printed in the new alphabet — the script explaining itself in its own letters. The opening line, the most famous sentence in Korean, states the problem plainly: the speech of this country differs from that of China, and does not fit its writing. Original 15th-century Korean and a modern rendering are given together.
